On Saturday, February 21st, 2015, Sault Ste. Marie will once again join thousands of others in 80 cities across Canada in "The Coldest Night of the Year," a 2, 5 or 10km winter walk-a-thon in support of the hungry, homeless and hurting. In Sault Ste. Marie we'll be walking for St. Vincent Place. St. Vincent Place serves the homeless and/or poor in our community by providing shelter, clothing, food and household essentials, all supported by a dedicated group of volunteers and staff. On a weekly basis they serve approximately 300+ people.
Our goal in the WALK is to raise $50,000 on February 21st with the support of 25+ teams, totalling 150+ walkers. This is a city wide event.
Bethel teams and volunteers have been an integral part of this eventover the past 2 years. Would you consider getting involved in our event by becoming a team captain & recruiting 6-10 of your friends or colleagues to walk with you or supporting a team or participant with their fundraising goal?
The WALK will begin and end at St. Vincent Place, 222 Albert St. E. The event starts with registration at 4:00pm, and the walk at 5:00pm, wrapping up by 8:00pm with a warm bowl of chili for all participants. Volunteers are needed to assist with the event and can sign up online or by contacting Jennifer Sarlo.
The website makes signing up and fundraising easy and efficient. www.coldestnightoftheyear.org
