Get connected and grow together in Christ
"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
Small groups meet once a week for 1 1/2 to 2 hours in homes across the city or online. Groups of 10 meet to study God's Word, pray and grow together in community.
The fall session runs from October to early December and then breaks for Christmas. The winter session starts up mid-January and runs through to early May. If you are interested in hosting a small group in your home, please contact Andrew & Jennifer Sarlo or contact us.
Discussion questions for 1 John 5:13-21 (Sunday, March 22, 2026):
- Read the passage 1 John 5:13-21 together. Do you have any questions or comments about the text? Did anything from Sunday’s sermon stand out to you?
- In verses 13-17, John lays out a life of confident prayer as a fruit of our assurance in Christ. How can we pray for God’s will and yet without doubting, fear, or presumption, as James 1:6-8 urges us?
- We are responsible to one another to pursue the holiness God calls us to together. What can we pray for a brother or sister in Christ when we see them wandering from the truth or acting inconsistently with their faith? How might praying for them prepare our hearts for an actual conversation?
- How do/can we pray differently for loved ones outside of faith in Christ compared to those inside the family of faith? Why does this distinction matter?
- John says the whole world lies in the power of the evil one (v. 19). How do we understand this in light of God’s sovereignty and supremacy? How could we misunderstand this statement, and what kind of errors might we commit if we get this distinction wrong?
- John ends his letter with a command to exclusive worship of the Only True God. How does this piece of Christian doctrine affect how we think about other religions and faiths? What other idols are competing for your affection, worship, and resources?
